Abstract

|
Seventeen patients with intracranial Arterio-venous
malformation were studied retrospectively for better understanding and management during the period from January ¢¥1980 to February ¢¥1988. All patients were graded by using newly suggested grading system. The 52 patients treated surgically and the 26 patients managed conservatively. And 12 patients studied with cerebral blood flow preoperatively and postoperatively.
Following are result
1) Sexual incidence of AVM was more high in male than female, the ratio was 2.5:1.
2) The peak age of incidence was 4th generation in male, 3rd generation in female.
3) In samll sized intracranial AVM 85% was presented with hemorrhage, and in large sized AVM 50% was presented with seizure.
4) In seizure pattern, the ratio of general seizure than focal seizure was 9:1.
5) The location of intracranial AVM was hemispheric (72%), deep seated (15%), posterior fossa (8%), midline structure (8%) in order of frequency.
6) The application of regional CBF preoperatively and postoneratively was useful for the understanding of change of cerebral blood flow.
7) Fof the expectation of clinical outcome of AVM patient, newly suggested Grading system was very useful.
